Wamiliki organiseert 3 sessie samen met Pakhuis de Zwijger op 21 februari, 6 maart en 14 maart om 19.30
De relatie tussen Afrika en Europa blijft getekend door het koloniale verleden, met hardnekkige littekens en wederzijdse vooroordelen. Maar wat vertellen deze littekens ons vandaag de dag? In dialoog onderzoeken we welke beelden zwart en wit van elkaar hebben, waar ze vandaan komen en hoe ze de onderlinge relatie nog steeds beïnvloeden. Bewust of onbewust houden we koloniale denkbeelden in stand, waardoor echte dekolonisatie wordt bemoeilijkt. De vervreemding tussen zwart en wit zit dieper dan vaak wordt erkend, terwijl begrippen als omvolking, mislukte integratie en institutioneel racisme het ongemak vergroten en verzoening bemoeilijken. Toch ligt in erkenning en dialoog de sleutel tot verandering. Doe mee aan de eerste editie van dit drieluik waarin we stilstaan bij een gelijkwaardige toekomst vanuit het perspectief van het verleden, heden en toekomst.

Africa has enormous potential, it has raw materials, people, knowledge and a rich culture. It has close connections with the entire world through the diaspora, through old colonial ties and new political and economic relations.
Yet Africa and Africans are not given enough space in the global playing field for their own approach. This in the areas of economics, politics, science and culture due to a range of more or less interrelated causes. There is too little room for programs that want to achieve African objectives with an African approach. This means there is no long-term effect.
Wamiliki means “the owners” or “the heirs”. Africans must determine their own course, unhindered by cultural and economic barriers, or the objectives of organizations and countries from the Global North.
